We do take a deposit when people book, which is a fairly standard practice for bed and breakfasts, we used to find when we didn’t take a deposit, sometimes people did not turn up, leaving us with nothing. If you cancel within 2 days of the date you are due to arrive, then unfortunately you will not get the deposit back. This is because when a guest books, we keep the room for them and turn away any other bookings, and if someone cancels at the last minute it can be difficult for us to re-let the room. So we have lost out on other prospective bookings, and the deposit helps compensate for that, as well as covering our costs.
